School Meals
We all know that a balanced and nutritious diet is essential to the health of a growing child and that finding the right balance in a packed lunch can be difficult, time consuming and expensive. Our school dinners are prepared on the premises; the current menu can be found below. The catering staff supports you in looking after your child by following nutritional guidelines to design a healthy and tempting menu. The list of allergens in each meal can be found here. The varied lunch menus are based on:
- Locally sourced produce wherever possible
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Food which is rich in minerals and vitamins
- Low fat, sugar and salt in meals with more bread and other starchy "energy” foods.
The aim is to satisfy every appetite, providing a traditional two-course meal each day with a drink. Special diets and vegetarian options can be arranged on written request. We take your children's dietary needs very seriously and ask that you let the School Office know if your child suffers with a food related allergy, or has any other medical or cultural dietary needs. If required, we will arrange to meet with you and the Kitchen Manager to arrange a suitable diet plan.
Meals are £2.40 per day and should be paid for in advance - weekly, half-termly or termly - online via Parentpay. Please see further details on ParentPay on the Online Payments page.
If you still prefer to use cash or cheque, then we can provide a barcode fo you to pay at a local Pay Point store. We no longer accept cash or cheques in school for lunches.
Free school meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 automatically get free school meals. However, parents and guardians are encouraged to apply for free school meals when they enrol their child in school, as this can help their child’s school to attract additional ‘pupil premium‘ funding to support learning
How to apply
If you think you are eligible you should apply for free school meals even if your child has a packed lunch every day. Please apply through the Citizen Portal, this is the quickest and easiest way and will result in you receiving an instant decision. Alternatively, call the Education Helpline on 0345 155 1019.
